On-chain trackers show the company began selling portions of its Bitcoin about seven months ago. Over that period it has disposed of 7,281 BTC for roughly $545 million, based on an average sale price of $74,855 per coin. Arkham’s wallet data indicates the company originally acquired 11,542 BTC at an average cost of $118,522 per coin, leaving a remaining balance valued at about $269.8 million at the time of the latest reporting.
The latest transfers follow earlier movements on May 22, when wallets linked to the company moved a combined 2,650 BTC to Crypto.com addresses. The transactions recorded on-chain point to transfers into custodial addresses controlled by Crypto.com rather than a single visible order on an exchange order book; assets in custodial addresses can be held or sold by the custodian.
The company’s Bitcoin holdings have declined by about 63% from the reported peak after the sequence of sales. The company has not provided a public explanation for the disposals.
Lawmakers and ethics watchdogs have raised questions about private crypto holdings linked to political figures while Congress debates the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act. Discussions around the legislation have included possible tightening of ethics rules related to digital assets. The bill under consideration does not require companies to divest existing crypto holdings.
