Sequans sells final 314 BTC to repay corporate debt
Sequans sold its remaining 314 BTC to repay corporate debt, converting its final bitcoin holdings into cash.
Sequans Communications completed the sale of its remaining 314 bitcoin holdings and applied the proceeds to repay corporate debt, the company said.
The Paris-based semiconductor firm carried out the transaction recently, converting the last bitcoin on its balance sheet into cash. Sequans did not disclose the cash value received or the identities of the trading counterparties. The proceeds were used to reduce amounts the company classifies as corporate debt, which lowered its leverage and shortened its debt maturity profile.
The disposal ends Sequans’ bitcoin holdings as a corporate asset. The company had purchased bitcoin in earlier transactions and sold portions of those holdings over time; the latest sale cleared the remainder of the position. Company filings refer to the prior purchases as part of treasury management activities.
Corporate treasury sales of bitcoin change a company’s cash position and exposure to digital-asset price volatility. Sequans described the sale as a financial-management decision to address debt obligations rather than an operational investment choice.
Sequans manufactures low-power cellular chips used in 4G and 5G devices and Internet of Things applications. The company said it will continue to focus on its core semiconductor business and that future capital allocation will prioritize operational needs and financial stability while it executes product and customer plans.
