Schwab Expands Crypto Trading Beyond Bitcoin, Ethereum
Charles Schwab is adding more cryptocurrencies to its brokerage platform, letting eligible U.S. clients trade tokens beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum through existing accounts.
Charles Schwab has expanded its cryptocurrency trading lineup to include tokens beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum in a recent update to its brokerage platform. Eligible U.S. clients can buy and sell additional digital assets through their existing Schwab accounts.
The new tokens will appear in Schwab’s standard trading interface so customers can view, trade and monitor them alongside stocks, bonds and funds. Orders will route through the firm’s existing execution systems and remain subject to Schwab’s fee schedule and trading rules. Access will depend on account type and client eligibility under Schwab’s internal policies.
Schwab will apply criteria for listing tokens, including liquidity, regulatory considerations and the ability to custody and settle assets reliably. The firm will maintain custody and accounting integration so crypto holdings appear on client statements with other positions.
Schwab did not publish a complete list of newly supported tokens at the time of the announcement. The rollout will be phased according to the company’s onboarding schedule. Customers interested in trading the added cryptocurrencies should review Schwab’s updated disclosures and terms, which describe eligibility, trading hours and fees.
Several brokerages and asset managers have broadened retail access to digital assets in recent years by adding tradable tokens and related products. Schwab’s expansion follows that development and increases the range of crypto products available inside regulated brokerage accounts.
