Saylor’s ‘Bitcoin Drive’ Revives Strategy Inc. Buy Expectations

Michael Saylor posted “Bitcoin Drive engaged” on Aug. 2, renewing expectations that Strategy Inc. will report another bitcoin purchase in its next weekly disclosure.

Michael Saylor posted “Bitcoin Drive engaged” on Aug. 2 alongside his usual bitcoin tracker, prompting expectations that Strategy Inc. will disclose another purchase when it publishes its weekly treasury update on Monday.

A snapshot of Saylor’s tracker captured earlier on Aug. 2 showed Strategy holding 843,775 BTC with a market value of about $53.25 billion, an average cost near $75,653 per bitcoin and an unrealized loss of roughly $10.58 billion, or 16.58 percent.

Strategy’s live public ledger listed 116 reported treasury events and the same 843,775 BTC, recorded as acquired for approximately $63.69 billion at an average price of $75,476 per bitcoin. The slight differences reflect timing and valuation updates between the chart image and the ledger.

The ledger also records two recent sales totaling 3,588 BTC, in transactions of 1,363 BTC and 2,225 BTC. Those sales lowered holdings from 847,363 BTC to 843,775 BTC. An SEC filing says the proceeds funded preferred-stock distributions and replenished the company’s U.S. dollar reserve.

Disclosures show no bitcoin purchases in the week ending July 26, while the U.S. dollar reserve rose to about $3.75 billion. That reserve was reported to cover an estimated 2.1 years of preferred dividends and interest payments at current levels.

Strategy reported an $8.33 billion operating loss for the second quarter of 2026, compared with $14.03 billion in operating income in the same quarter a year earlier. The quarter included an $8.32 billion unrealized loss on its digital assets, versus a $14.05 billion unrealized gain in Q2 2025.

Company filings state management can generate up to $1.25 billion through additional bitcoin sales to bolster the dollar reserve that supports preferred dividends and debt interest.

Monday’s scheduled update will show whether Strategy resumed accumulating bitcoin or continued to manage its balance sheet through selective sales. Until that disclosure, the public ledger and Saylor’s tracker are the primary sources of the company’s bitcoin activity.
