Rooz urges crypto adoption before 2028 US election

Digital Asset CEO Yuval Rooz urged the crypto industry to expand blockchain use before the 2028 US election, arguing that adoption could make policy reversals harder.

Digital Asset co-founder and CEO Yuval Rooz called on the crypto industry to use the current regulatory environment to increase institutional adoption.

Speaking at Token2049 in Singapore, Rooz argued that blockchain should become widely used before the 2028 US presidential election. He said broad adoption could limit the ability of a future administration to reverse current policies.

The election is scheduled for Nov. 7, 2028. Rooz compared the opportunity with the growth of Uber and Airbnb, which he said became widely used before policymakers could restrict them effectively. “By the time people got their act together and decided, OK, we wanna legislate against those companies, it was too late,” he said.

The comments followed the CLARITY Act’s failure to advance in a Senate procedural vote in September. The Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission have continued developing crypto rules under their existing legal authority.

Binance co-CEO Richard Teng, who joined Rooz on the Token2049 panel, expressed hope that the CLARITY Act would still become law. He described the possibility of reversing recent progress as the industry’s “biggest fear” and linked legislation to greater institutional participation.

Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson said legislation could provide more certainty but cautioned against relying on the CLARITY Act’s passage. She noted that the SEC and CFTC were already working on crypto rules, which could support continued innovation and institutional adoption.
