Mozilla tests opt-in AI Smart Window in Firefox

Mozilla is testing an opt-in AI feature called Smart Window inside Firefox. The feature is disabled by default and will appear only for users who choose to enable it.

The Smart Window runs inside the Firefox interface rather than as a separate extension. It provides generative AI functions alongside normal browsing and may appear in menus or side panels during the trial.

Mozilla described the experiment as a way to observe how users interact with integrated AI features and to collect feedback before any wider release. The company requires users to turn on the feature before it becomes active in their browser.

Access is restricted during the trial and the feature’s placement and configuration may change as Mozilla tests different options. Users who enable Smart Window will have AI assistance available in the browser; users who do not enable it will continue to use Firefox without the built-in AI interface.
