MoonPay brings MoonAgents AI crypto assistant to Telegram

MoonPay added MoonAgents to Telegram, letting users query its AI assistant for market analysis, transaction prep and dashboards while private keys remain on users’ desktops.

On Thursday, MoonPay added support for MoonAgents on Telegram, linking the MoonAgents desktop app to a custom Telegram bot so users can interact with the AI assistant from their phones.

Users set up a bot through Telegram’s BotFather, connect it to the MoonAgents desktop client, and then can ask the agent to analyze markets, prepare transactions, build dashboards and monitor blockchain activity. Telegram functions only as an interface; the company says private keys and conversation data remain stored locally on the user’s computer.

Kevin Arifin, MoonPay’s Agents product lead, described the integration as a way to extend desktop access to mobile: “The desktop app is tied to your computer, but sometimes you want to make trades on the go or do analysis when you’re out for a walk. The Telegram integration is the gateway to do that.”

Arifin pointed to Telegram’s bot tools and lower setup friction compared with other messaging platforms, noting that integrations with services like WhatsApp or iMessage typically require more complex arrangements.

The Telegram link supports market queries and the assembly of transactions, but final transaction signing remains on the desktop where keys are stored. MoonPay says conversations and agent state are retained on the user’s machine so users can continue interacting with their agent through the desktop app if the Telegram connection is removed.

The launch follows several industry developments that connect AI agents to trading and wallet services. In April, Gemini introduced Agentic Trading to let AI models execute strategies on its platform. In June, Coinbase released Coinbase for Agents to allow AI agents to trade, make payments and manage portfolios within user-set limits. Also in June, an open-source AI agent was packaged into a desktop application to make local use easier.

MoonPay describes the Telegram integration as a convenience layer that provides mobile access to MoonAgents while keeping private keys and stored conversations under user control.
