MegaETH will open its mainnet for a global stress test ahead of launch

The Ethereum Layer-2 network MegaETH is preparing for a global mainnet stress test, opening access to users one week before its public launch. The team plans to push 11 billion transactions through the network over seven days, targeting a sustained load of 15,000–35,000 TPS.

The stress test begins Thursday and focuses on evaluating performance under latency and high-frequency operations. Users will be able to interact with gaming apps like Stomp.gg, Smasher.fun, and Crossy Fluffle, while the backend generates ETH transfers and AMM v3 swaps through the Kumbaya.xyz DEX. The goal is to push the network to a record transaction count among all EVM chains.

The MegaETH team emphasizes that the point of stress testing is to expose bottlenecks: “If the load doesn’t cause discomfort, it won’t reveal real issues. If something breaks, it will be fixed.”

MegaETH describes itself as a high-throughput Ethereum-secured L2 built for minimal latency and predictable sequencer costs. To support this, the network uses its own stablecoin, USDm, intended to stabilize internal computational expenses.

The public launch is expected soon after the test. At rollout, MegaETH plans to offer applications in DeFi and consumer segments built around USDm.

Founded in 2022, the project has raised $20 million in seed funding. Investors include Dragonfly Capital, Vitalik Buterin, and Joseph Lubin. The team says MegaETH aims to create an L2 ecosystem capable of supporting “real-time” applications such as games, financial protocols, and large-scale consumer services.

The broader goal is to build infrastructure where high throughput and low latency make possible products that traditional Ethereum rollups cannot support.

The stress test will be a key milestone before the network enters open operation. Its outcome will determine whether MegaETH can compete in the growing high-speed L2 segment and withstand loads comparable to mass-market Web3 applications.
