LSE, Kraken Parent to List Tokenized UK Stocks on LSE 24
The London Stock Exchange will list tokenized UK stocks with Payward on its LSE 24 night-time venue, offering 24/5 trading from 2027.
The London Stock Exchange has partnered with Payward, the parent company of crypto exchange Kraken, to list tokenized UK stocks on LSE 24, the exchange’s new night-time trading venue. Trading is scheduled to begin in 2027 on a 24/5 timetable running Monday through Friday.
Payward’s chief commercial officer, Mark Greenberg, confirmed the arrangement and said the initial listings will track the value of leading UK equity products and be available on the LSE’s extended-hours platform.
Tokenized stocks are digital tokens recorded on blockchain networks that represent economic exposure to underlying shares. They can mirror a share’s price, allow fractional ownership, and enable trading outside regular market hours.
LSE 24 is intended to extend the hours during which investors can buy and sell equity-like products rather than provide round-the-clock access. The venue will operate five days a week with longer trading windows than the exchange’s standard session.
Regulatory approvals and market infrastructure work are required before listings start in 2027. The exchange and Payward are preparing frameworks for custody, settlement and secondary trading that must meet applicable rules.
Other established financial firms have also been developing tokenized equity offerings. Nasdaq has worked with Payward and an issuer behind tokenized equities to build transformation infrastructure. The Intercontinental Exchange invested in a crypto firm to support tokenized NYSE-listed stocks beginning in the second quarter of 2026. Deutsche Börse made a $200 million investment in Payward in April to expand access to blockchain-based securities. CME Group has announced plans to list certain crypto futures contracts.
Onchain data provider RWA.xyz reports the total value of tokenized stocks rose 15% over the past 30 days to about $2.53 billion, while the number of tokenized equity holders increased roughly 153% to 2.45 million.
Payward and the LSE have not released a detailed list of which UK equities will be tokenized first, only that leading UK equity products will be the initial focus. The partnership is one of several efforts by traditional exchanges to offer extended-hours or near-continuous exposure to equity markets using tokenization technology.
