Kiyosaki Predicts $10,000 Gold, $200 Silver as Debt Nears $40T
Robert Kiyosaki posted that gold could reach $10,000 an ounce and silver $200 as U.S. public debt approached $40 trillion, urging followers to consider their response.
Robert Kiyosaki posted on X on Aug. 15 that gold could reach $10,000 an ounce and silver $200 as U.S. public debt approached $40 trillion, and urged followers to think about how they would respond.
U.S. Treasury data showed total public debt outstanding at about $39.93 trillion on Aug. 13, composed of roughly $32.20 trillion held by the public and $7.73 trillion in intragovernmental holdings. In his post Kiyosaki wrote: “$40 TRILLION US NATIONAL soon!! Q: What are you doing about it?” He also wrote that “friends who are much smarter than me” forecasted the $10,000 and $200 targets and identified silver as his preferred metal for August.
Kiyosaki did not provide calculations or a timetable for the price targets. At the time of his post, silver traded near $65.33 an ounce on Aug. 15 and gold near $4,365 an ounce on Aug. 14. Reaching $200 for silver would require roughly tripling from those levels; reaching $10,000 for gold would require more than doubling.
Kiyosaki has linked rising federal borrowing and what he describes as currency erosion to a preference for assets outside government-issued cash. In a separate post he wrote: “Savers of cash are the BIGGEST LOSERS!!!!” He has continued to promote gold, silver and bitcoin as alternatives to holding cash.
Market reports show mixed conditions for the two metals. A recent gold report noted central bank purchases and institutional buying as supports, while also identifying factors that could restrain prices such as stronger growth, higher yields or a firmer dollar. That report recorded central bank buying in the quarter and net outflows from gold exchange-traded funds.
A silver market survey projects coin and net bar demand rising to 257.6 million ounces in 2026 from 217.7 million in 2025, while forecasting about a 3% decline in industrial demand and a 19% drop in photovoltaic consumption to 151.0 million ounces. Global silver supply is projected to contract about 2% in 2026, with mine production roughly flat after reaching 846.6 million ounces the prior year. The survey anticipates a market deficit of about 46.3 million ounces in 2026.
Kiyosaki’s price targets differ from mainstream market estimates and were presented without supporting analysis. Gold and silver prices remain sensitive to interest rates, currency moves, geopolitical events and investor demand.
