iPhone maker Foxconn building $1.4B Nvidia AI data center in Taiwan
Foxconn, best known for assembling Apple’s iPhones, plans to build a $1.4 billion supercomputing cluster using Nvidia technology in Taiwan.
The project is part of Foxconn’s push into large-scale AI infrastructure and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
Neo Yao, chief executive of Foxconn’s new Visionbay.ai unit for AI supercomputing and cloud services, described it as Asia’s first GB300-based AI data center. Presented at Foxconn’s tech day in Taiwan, the 27-megawatt site will run on Nvidia Blackwell GB300 chips and become Taiwan’s largest advanced GPU cluster.
Foxconn is expanding into electric vehicles and AI infrastructure. It is now Nvidia’s main producer of AI server racks, which package chips, cabling, and other gear for AI workloads. Chairman Young Liu said the current capacity is about 1,000 AI racks per week, with output expected to rise next year. He also outlined plans to invest $2–3 billion annually in AI, citing strong demand as a growth driver for 2026.
Foxconn also partners with OpenAI to design and manufacture hardware for AI data centers, including racks, cabling, networking, cooling, and power systems. Under the deal, Foxconn will produce key components at its U.S. facilities in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Texas.
At Foxconn’s Hon Hai Tech Day 2025, Sheng-Bin Huang, son of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and the company’s robotics product manager highlighted the partnership to deploy AI-powered humanoid robots in smart manufacturing, including potential U.S. assembly of AI servers.
As reported earlier, Nvidia posted better-than-expected Q3 2025 results in November, with $57 billion in revenue – up 22% from Q2 and 62% year over year. Earnings were $1.30 per share versus $1.25 expected, and the stock rose more than 5% in late trading. Demand for its newest Blackwell processors and cloud GPUs remains extremely strong, with CEO Jensen Huang noting that Blackwell sales are surging and cloud GPUs are sold out.
