Hyperscale Data Sells 100 BTC to Fund $3B AI Campus
Hyperscale Data sold about 100 BTC and opened a bitcoin-backed credit facility on July 30, 2026, to finance a 617,000 sq ft AI data center in Dowagiac; a 20 MW deal could exceed $3 billion.
On July 30, 2026, Hyperscale Data sold roughly 100 bitcoin and opened a bitcoin-backed credit facility to help finance construction of a 617,000-square-foot AI data center campus in Dowagiac, Michigan. A 20-megawatt client contract at the site could generate more than $1.2 billion and, with options and extensions exercised, total revenue could exceed $3 billion.
The sale occurred when bitcoin traded near $64,800, valuing the coins at about $6.5 million. Hyperscale Data reported holdings of approximately 1,106 BTC in late July and holds about 1,006 BTC after the sale. The remaining coins have been pledged as collateral for the new credit facility, which carries variable interest rates around 4.5% to 5.0%. The lender, facility size and loan-to-value terms have not been disclosed. The company trades as GPUS on the NYSE American exchange.
The Dowagiac site has been used for bitcoin mining by Hyperscale Data’s subsidiary Alliance Cloud Services. On June 24, 2026, Alliance signed a 10-year agreement with a California-based neo-cloud AI provider for 20 megawatts of compute capacity expected to go live in the fourth quarter of 2026. The initial contract includes two consecutive five-year renewal options and could produce more than $1.2 billion. The customer also holds an option for an additional 32 megawatts; if exercised within two years and extended through both renewal periods, total contract revenue could top $3 billion.
Hyperscale Data has expanded the Dowagiac site to about 83 acres and cited long-term power potential above 300 megawatts, subject to permits, utility agreements and financing. The company said proceeds from the bitcoin sale and borrowing against its remaining bitcoin will be applied to the Dowagiac campus.
Executive Chairman Milton “Todd” Ault III called the company’s bitcoin position “a source of financial flexibility.” Chief Executive William Horne described the transaction as “shifting one balance sheet asset for another” and indicated it does not change the company’s long-term view of bitcoin.
Other publicly traded miners have redeployed bitcoin holdings to fund AI and high-performance computing projects. Marathon Digital sold more than 15,000 BTC, and Bitdeer has used bitcoin to finance AI infrastructure. Investors will watch whether the 20 megawatts comes online in Q4 2026, whether the 32-megawatt option is exercised, how quickly Hyperscale Data draws on the credit facility, and whether the company completes plans to sell its private equity businesses by the second quarter of 2027.
