Google opens free 1080p AI video generation to all

Google has made a free web tool available that generates 1080p (1920×1080) video clips from short text prompts. The feature is offered through Google’s web interface to users with a standard account, with no subscription or paywall.

The tool produces short-form video intended for social clips, presentations and creative testing rather than feature-length projects. Google says the system is optimized for clarity and stable motion at full HD and accepts prompts that specify scene composition, camera movement and visual style. The company has published guidance to help users craft prompts and reduce unintended artifacts.

Google built technical and policy safeguards into the service. Outputs are labeled and may include visible watermarks to indicate AI generation. Automated moderation and content restrictions block explicit content, violent or hateful material and other prohibited uses. Rate limits and usage controls are in place to prevent abuse and manage computing costs.

Developers will be able to access the capability through Google’s existing developer channels over time. Google plans to offer APIs so third-party apps and platforms can incorporate 1080p generation, subject to the same safety and usage policies that apply to the consumer interface. The company will monitor performance and adjust limits as it scales the infrastructure.

The release follows several years of internal research and earlier experimental models that explored text-to-video generation. Google described the public tool as a move beyond research previews and said it will update the service to improve fidelity, shorten generation times and expand supported styles and formats based on user feedback and safety testing.

Google asks users to report problematic outputs and to follow the content rules in its terms of service. The company also plans ongoing updates to filters and watermarking and intends to work with outside experts to improve detection of harmful or misleading content.
