Fidelity ETF Draws $433M as Bitcoin Tops $80,000

Fidelity’s spot bitcoin ETF logged $433 million of net inflows as bitcoin’s price rose above $80,000 in the latest trading session.

Fidelity Management & Research’s spot bitcoin ETF recorded $433 million in net inflows during the latest trading session as bitcoin’s price moved above $80,000. The inflows increased the fund’s assets under management.

Investors added money to the fund while the digital asset’s rally accelerated. Market participants used the ETF to gain regulated exposure to bitcoin without directly holding the token.

The ETF trades on U.S. exchanges and holds physical bitcoin to back its shares. When investors buy shares, the fund purchases bitcoin to match inflows, which increases demand on exchanges where the cryptocurrency is traded.

Spot bitcoin ETFs differ from futures-based crypto funds by taking custody of actual coins and requiring secure storage and custodial arrangements. Fund flows into spot ETFs are tracked by asset managers and data providers as a measure of investor activity.

Since regulators approved spot bitcoin ETFs, several competing products have become available. The ETF structure provides daily liquidity, standard reporting and custody arrangements used by institutional and retail investors.

The recent inflows to Fidelity’s ETF and the price move above $80,000 mark another data point in the market for regulated bitcoin products as investors continue to use traditional investment vehicles to gain exposure to the cryptocurrency.
