Fhenix acquires Sunscreen to develop quantum-safe FHE
Fhenix on July 2 acquired Sunscreen to accelerate quantum-resistant fully homomorphic encryption for finance, AI and payments. Sunscreen founder Ravital Solomon will lead cryptographic research.
Fhenix announced on July 2 that it has acquired Sunscreen and hired Sunscreen founder Ravital Solomon to lead the combined company’s cryptographic research. The acquisition brings together teams working on encrypted computation, post-quantum schemes and deployment on Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) networks.
Sunscreen, founded in 2022, developed an open-source fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) compiler and expanded into zero-knowledge tooling and threshold-encrypted systems. The team focused on adapting lattice-based, post-quantum cryptography for smart contracts and production environments.
Fhenix has been developing CoFHE, an encrypted computation stack designed for EVM applications. Company officials said the combined group will work to scale encrypted computation for real-world blockchain workloads and prepare systems for quantum-resistant operation.
The teams plan to target deployments across Ethereum, Arbitrum and Base. Engineering priorities include work on TFHE and BFV encryption schemes, threshold FHE decryption to split decryption authority among multiple parties, and exact arithmetic methods needed to run encrypted computations with the precision and speed required by financial services, tokenized real-world assets, stablecoins and onchain AI systems.
Guy Zyskind, founder of Fhenix, said in a statement that the discussion around FHE has moved from feasibility to practical deployment and broader availability across developer ecosystems.
Solomon noted she started Sunscreen to move advanced cryptography from theory into production and that joining Fhenix offered a path to both continued research and deployment. Her work centers on making lattice-based, post-quantum techniques compatible with smart contracts and operational systems.
Fhenix and Sunscreen did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition. The companies said the combined research organization will publish technical updates and research as development continues and as deployments begin on the targeted networks.
