Digital Euro Conference 2026 opens in Frankfurt - GNcrypto

Frankfurt hosts one of the year’s most policy-relevant digital finance events – with central bankers, regulators, and infrastructure players in the same room to work through where the digital euro, CBDCs, and stablecoins are actually heading.

The Digital Euro Conference 2026 is organised by the Digital Euro Association as a hybrid event – one day, three tracks, where central banks, payment networks, and blockchain infrastructure providers sit down to work through how Europe’s digital money systems will actually operate.

The event takes place at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and is organized by the Digital Euro Association.

Who’s in the room

Dr. Alexandra Hachmeister, Director General Digital Euro at Deutsche Bundesbank, leads the CBDC discussion alongside Agnese Gentile from Banca d’Italia and Adeline Bachellerie from Banque de France. Sonja Davidovic of the IMF brings the global perspective. Nick Kerigan from Swift, Marco Kessler from SIX Group, and representatives from Google Cloud and Ethereum Foundation will discuss how public blockchains, enterprise systems, and traditional banking infrastructure can interoperate.

DEC has always drawn central banks, multilaterals, and technology providers to the same stage – cross-sector dialogue is the point of the whole exercise.

What’s on the agenda

Three tracks run across the day: Main Stage, Innovation Room, and Roundtable Room. The sessions cover CBDC adoption and early implementations, the European settlement stack and lessons from the Pontes project, wholesale digital euro capabilities for CSDs, and a longer-horizon discussion on what Europe’s digital money stack could look like by 2030.

The Ethereum Foundation, Google Cloud, and Swift are sharing a panel on interoperability between public chains, enterprise systems, and banks, a question that has moved from theoretical to urgent over the past year.

Why it matters now

MiCA is in force. The digital euro is in its preparation phase. Commercial bank money tokens are moving from concept to pilot. Decisions on infrastructure made over the next few years will likely shape how these systems interact across the European financial ecosystem. The conference serves as a venue for policymakers and industry participants to discuss these issues directly.

The event is available both on-site and online. Full details and registration at digital-euro-conference.de.
