DCENT Tells Users to Withdraw Crypto After Firmware Flaw

DCENT urged wallet users to withdraw funds and stop using its products after it found a firmware and app vulnerability that could allow unauthorized transactions.

DCENT posted an alert this week asking all wallet holders to move assets out of its wallets and to stop using DCENT products until further notice after detecting a potential security issue.

The company described the problem as a vulnerability in its wallet firmware and companion mobile app that could allow unauthorized transactions if exploited. DCENT did not publish technical details in the initial notice and said engineers are investigating the cause.

The alert instructed users to perform transfers only from devices they trust, avoid exporting seed phrases or private keys into online environments, and double-check receiving addresses before completing transactions. DCENT recommended suspending wallet features that connect to external applications and moving high-value holdings to offline hardware storage where possible.

DCENT did not state whether any customer funds have been lost. The company said it is preparing a software update and will notify users via the app and by email when a verified patch is available and normal operations can resume.

DCENT produces hardware devices paired with a smartphone app for self-custody of private keys and portable cold-storage. The firm has issued firmware updates previously to fix bugs and add features.

In a statement, DCENT wrote: “We recommend that customers withdraw their assets to alternative secure storage and pause use of DCENT wallets until we release an update that fully addresses the issue.” The company is cooperating with security researchers and plans to publish a post-incident report after the investigation concludes. Users were told to rely only on DCENT’s verified channels for updates and to report any suspicious wallet activity to support.
