Crypto-backed PAC Spends $12M, Moore Wins Alabama Runoff
Barry Moore won the Alabama Republican Senate runoff 55.8% to 44.2% on June 17, aided by more than $12 million in ad buys from the Defend American Jobs PAC tied to Fairshake.
Barry Moore won the Alabama Republican U.S. Senate runoff on June 17, taking 55.8% of the vote to Hudson’s 44.2%. Moore is the Republican nominee for the seat being vacated by Senator Tommy Tuberville and will face Democrat Everett Wess in the general election.
Federal Election Commission filings show the Defend American Jobs PAC, a committee affiliated with Fairshake, spent more than $12 million on media and advertising to support Moore in the May 19 primary and the June 17 runoff.
Fairshake’s political activity this year has included large expenditures and fundraising. Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter described the Alabama spending as ‘our biggest spend of the cycle’ and said the group had nearly $150 million in cash on hand. Public filings indicate Fairshake and its affiliates reported about $193 million as of January and may have spent more than $40 million across several states to date.
Stand With Crypto, an advocacy group linked to a major crypto exchange, rated Moore as ‘strongly supports crypto’ based on his public statements and his voting record while representing Alabama’s 1st Congressional District. A Fairshake affiliate, Protect Progress, reported roughly $5.2 million in media buys for Maryland Democrat Adrian Boafo and about $587,000 for New York Democrat Ritchie Torres ahead of primaries set for June 23.
Additional statewide and congressional primaries are scheduled this week in South Carolina, Texas, California, South Dakota and New Jersey. FEC filings and PAC disclosures show industry-aligned groups have made media purchases in several of those contests.
Moore will campaign in the general election to replace Tuberville. The Federal Election Commission filings and PAC reports provide the posted amounts and timing of the recent ad spending.
