Copper’s U.S. arm becomes FINRA member, registers with SEC

Copper Markets (US) Inc. joined FINRA and registered with the SEC, allowing it to offer qualified custody, staking, financing and OTC services to U.S. institutions.
Copper Markets (US) Inc. has been accepted as a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, enabling the firm to provide qualified custody, staking, financing and over-the-counter services to institutional clients in the United States.
FINRA BrokerCheck shows an approved SEC registration dated Aug. 7 and identifies FINRA as the company’s self-regulatory organization. The registration grants Copper the broker-dealer status required to offer services that depend on that designation in the U.S. market.
The U.S. unit will operate as a qualified custodian and provide custody services that meet regulatory standards for holding client assets. It will also offer staking, financing and OTC trading services and integrate those offerings with Copper’s ClearLoop Network.
ClearLoop lets institutional counterparties pledge and transfer crypto and tokenized assets as collateral between parties, supporting secured trading and financing arrangements. Access through a registered broker-dealer will allow U.S. institutions to use the same collateral and settlement tools Copper offers in other regions.
Under SEC rules, a registered broker-dealer that holds client assets in customer accounts can qualify as a custodian and must meet specific custody obligations and compliance requirements. Copper Markets (US) Inc.’s broker-dealer registration and FINRA membership align the entity with those regulatory expectations as it expands services in the United States.
Copper, a digital asset infrastructure provider, has built custody and trading tools for institutional clients. With the U.S. registration, the company can provide regulated custody and related services directly to American institutions while linking those services to its global infrastructure.
In a statement, Copper described the expansion as establishing its U.S. presence as a ‘Qualified Custodian.’
