Coinbase adds stock trading, prediction markets and futures to its main app

Coinbase announced on 18 December 2025 that it is adding U.S. stock trading, prediction markets and additional derivatives products to its main app, broadening the range of assets customers can trade under one account.
The U.S.-listed crypto exchange, Coinbase Global Inc. (COIN), presented the rollout during its System Update stream. The company outlined that the update is designed to let customers trade crypto, traditional securities and event contracts in a single interface, with more integrations planned.
For equities, Coinbase will introduce commission-free trading of hundreds of U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds, with the selection based on factors such as market capitalization and trading volume. The company plans to expand the lineup to thousands of stocks and ETFs over the coming months. Coinbase added that customers will be able to manage stock and crypto positions in the same app using U.S. dollars or USDC.
Coinbase will offer extended-hours access for equities, describing the initial product as 24 hours a day, five days a week trading. The company intends to broaden availability of stock perpetual products for customers outside the United States in 2026 to provide round-the-clock exposure to U.S. equities. Coinbase attributed the effort to Coinbase Tokenize, which it described as an institutional platform intended to support tokenized real-world assets and retail access to tokenized stocks.
On prediction markets, Coinbase is integrating Kalshi, which it valued at about $11 billion, to allow users to trade event contracts tied to real-world outcomes including elections, sports, collectibles and economic indicators. The company expects additional prediction-market integrations later.
The update also includes expanded derivatives and onchain trading features. Coinbase reported more than 30 futures and perpetual-style products live in the United States across multiple asset classes and plans to expand toward hundreds of contracts over time. Coinbase is also extending its in-app decentralized exchange integration to Solana assets by integrating the Jupiter aggregator, allowing users to swap Solana tokens inside the Coinbase app.
The company is rolling out Coinbase Business for eligible customers in the United States and Singapore and is introducing Coinbase Advisor, an AI-based product that provides portfolio and market prompts inside the app. Coinbase reported that its Base network is now available in more than 140 countries and reiterated that it is evaluating a potential Base token but provided no timeline.
As GNcrypto reported earlier, Bloomberg had previewed the Dec. 17, 2025 showcase ahead of the rollout. Interest in tokenized equities has been rising, with rwa.xyz tracking about $1.45 billion in monthly transfer volume in the past 30 days, while rivals such as Robinhood have added Kalshi-based prediction markets and platforms including Robinhood and Kraken have offered tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs outside the United States; screenshots suggesting similar Coinbase features had also circulated on X ahead of the event.
