Cocoon launches decentralized AI network on The Open Network blockchain

Cocoon, a decentralized network for private AI computation, has launched on The Open Network (TON) blockchain.
The platform allows GPU owners to rent out their hardware to process user requests and earn rewards in Toncoin. According to the team, the first tasks have already been completed, and hardware providers have begun receiving payouts.
The launch was publicly confirmed by Pavel Durov, who said the network addresses the high cost of computation and lack of privacy seen in centralized AI services. He noted that providers like Amazon and Microsoft act as expensive intermediaries and limit user confidentiality, while Cocoon removes those bottlenecks through a distributed design.
Durov first introduced the platform at the Blockchain Life 2025 conference in Dubai as a response to growing demand for secure AI infrastructure. Cocoon’s creators position the project as a system that returns control of data to users and offers an alternative to centralized platforms where the risk of abuse and unauthorized access remains high.
Supporters of decentralized AI argue that solutions like this can reduce the influence of large corporations and governments on model operation. Experts also note that blockchain helps verify data sources, prevent tampering, and ensure trusted coordination between network nodes.
Cocoon operates as an open infrastructure that any GPU owner can join. The network uses a distributed computation model, with tasks processed by nodes without centralized oversight. Rewards are issued in TON, the native token of The Open Network.
The team says the network will expand its supported GPU pool in the coming weeks and introduce additional privacy-focused features.
Cocoon’s launch is gaining attention amid rising competition in decentralized AI. The growth of privacy-oriented AI models and Web3 initiatives is increasing demand for infrastructure that lets users safely outsource computation without sending data to major companies. The industry is increasingly discussing a future in which decentralized AI networks become the primary platform for generative and analytical models.
For TON, this is one of the most significant AI-focused launches in recent months. Cocoon strengthens the ecosystem’s positioning as a blockchain built for scalable computation and expands opportunities for users to monetize their hardware.
