CME Adds Bitcoin Cash, Uniswap to Futures Lineup

CME Group listed cash-settled Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures on its regulated derivatives platform, using spot-market reference rates for settlement.

CME Group has listed cash-settled futures for Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Uniswap (UNI) on its regulated derivatives platform, the exchange announced. Settlement prices for the contracts will be derived from spot-market reference rates.

Product specifications published by CME describe contract size, minimum price fluctuation, settlement methodology and the reference rates and calculation windows used for final settlement. The listings will follow the exchange’s established margining rules and trading hours.

The contracts are subject to CME’s existing risk controls and surveillance systems for digital-asset products.

CME launched Bitcoin futures in 2017 and Ether futures in 2021, and later added options and micro-sized versions of major contracts. The addition of BCH and UNI expands the range of tokens available to futures traders and institutional participants on the exchange.

Bitcoin Cash is a 2017 fork of Bitcoin that increased block size to allow higher transaction throughput. Uniswap’s UNI token, introduced in 2020, functions as the governance token for the Uniswap decentralized exchange.

Futures contracts let traders take positions on a token’s price without holding the underlying asset. Cash settlement means final payments are made in fiat currency rather than by delivering the tokens.

Futures on cryptocurrencies provide tools for hedging, speculation and price discovery within a regulated framework. Major regulated exchanges have expanded crypto product suites to offer standardized, centrally cleared instruments for institutional and professional traders.
