Major Cloudflare outage once again causes global internet disruptions

The outage came only weeks after a previous large-scale incident, heightening concerns about the resilience of core internet infrastructure. Cloudflare handles a significant share of global web traffic, providing routing, security, and performance optimization. Any failure in its systems sets off a chain reaction with worldwide effects.

The disruption escalated quickly: users across multiple regions reported being unable to access major platforms. Pages failed to load, login systems malfunctioned, and websites stalled mid-request. Crypto services were also affected, including Coinbase, Uniswap, Upbit, OpenSea, and others.

The incident underscored how dependent the digital economy has become on a small group of infrastructure providers. In contrast to the early internet — when outages at individual sites rarely created systemic problems — modern failures can hit entire sectors at once, spanning media, finance, e-commerce, and cloud services.

A second major outage in such a short span has renewed scrutiny of the risks inherent in concentrating critical network functions among a few companies. Despite clear advantages — speed, optimization, and unified security standards — this degree of centralization creates single points of failure that can disrupt millions of users simultaneously.
