Blockchain.com wins Cayman VASP license

Blockchain.com received full VASP authorization from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority on July 22, 2026, allowing regulated custody and crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchange services.

Blockchain.com was granted a virtual asset service provider (VASP) license by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority on July 22, 2026. The authorization allows the firm to offer regulated custody and to operate crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchange services in the Cayman Islands.

The full license replaces a conditional approval issued in December 2025 and adds to a VASP registration the company has held in the territory since May 2022. Under the license, Blockchain.com may hold and safeguard client digital assets and run exchange services that convert cryptocurrencies to fiat and between different crypto tokens.

The approval follows recent regulatory milestones in other jurisdictions. The firm obtained authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets framework and completed registration with the United Kingdom’s Financial Conduct Authority as part of its compliance program.

Lane Kasselman, co-chief executive officer, commented, ‘Strong regulation is important to the long-term development of digital assets, and these approvals strengthen our ability to serve customers across the region.’

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority assesses VASP applications for compliance with custody rules, anti-money laundering requirements and consumer protections. The license permits Blockchain.com to operate custody and exchange functions under Cayman supervision.

Blockchain.com provides wallets, trading and institutional custody services. The Cayman authorization is intended to support clients that require regulated custody and to allow on-island exchange activity that pairs fiat and crypto.
