BitMart users unite to recover assets stuck on exchange
A group of BitMart customers formed online to trace and reclaim crypto they say is inaccessible after withdrawals were restricted and balances did not match holdings.
A coalition of BitMart customers formed in recent weeks on Telegram, Discord and Reddit to recover cryptocurrency they say is trapped after withdrawals were restricted and token balances became inaccessible.
Members collected transaction records, screenshots and correspondence with BitMart support to build a shared evidence packet. They pooled funds to hire lawyers and independent blockchain forensics firms to trace token flows and identify custodial wallets.
Organizers set three immediate priorities: verify which assets are inaccessible on the exchange, trace on-chain movements to locate funds, and combine resources to pursue civil litigation or arbitration where viable.
Several participants committed money to a legal fund to retain counsel experienced in cross-border crypto disputes. Other members hired blockchain analysis firms to follow funds that may have been routed through mixers or forwarded to other trading platforms.
A message in the group’s chat read: “We want a single, organized claim so we don’t all pay for lawyers separately.” Another post added: “If there is a clear path to the funds, the evidence may force the exchange to restore access or settle.”
The group plans to file complaints with financial authorities in the regions where members live and where BitMart operates. Organizers said they are consulting attorneys in several countries to determine the most effective jurisdictions for filing suits and for seeking asset freezes on wallets identified by chain analysis.
Informal steps include public posts that document transactions and timelines and targeted social media pressure on the exchange. Legal options under consideration include class-action suits in consumer-protection venues, civil claims tied to the exchange’s corporate entities, and requests for criminal investigations where fraud may be alleged.
Organizers noted recovery is complicated by BitMart’s corporate structure and the cross-border nature of cryptocurrency trading. Funds mixed through privacy services or moved to exchanges that do not freeze assets are harder to retrieve, they added.
The group said it will share forensic findings with law enforcement units that handle financial cybercrime and urged affected users to preserve all communications and transaction logs and to refrain from sharing private keys.
Organizers intend to issue a public update after legal counsel completes an initial review of the compiled evidence. Meanwhile, members continue to collect documentation, coordinate trace analysis and contact other affected customers to broaden the coordinated claim.
