Bitcoin ETFs Draw $517M Inflows, Largest Since May
US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $517.2 million in net inflows Wednesday, the largest single-day intake since May 4, lifting August net inflows to $1.47 billion.
US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $517.2 million in net inflows on Wednesday, their biggest daily intake since May 4. The inflow pushed August net inflows to $1.47 billion, and the funds have taken in about $1 billion since Monday, the strongest weekly total since the week ended Jan. 16.
The inflows coincided with a rally in major cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin traded near $72,000 on Thursday, up roughly 11% over the prior 24 hours, while ether rose about 19% to near $2,286. Market data showed Wednesday accounted for the bulk of the funds’ inflows.
The U.S. Treasury announced plans to expand buybacks of longer-dated government debt, a policy change that reduced yields and weakened the dollar. At a White House event, President Donald Trump urged Congress to advance the CLARITY Act, drawing renewed attention to crypto regulation.
Spot ether ETFs registered $189.2 million in net inflows on Wednesday, bringing this week’s total for ether products to about $291.5 million. Across bitcoin and ether spot funds, new capital for the period starting Monday totaled roughly $1.3 billion.
Spot bitcoin and ether ETFs provide regulated exchange-traded exposure to the underlying cryptocurrencies, allowing investors to gain exposure without buying and storing coins directly.
Jonatan Randin, senior market analyst at PrimeXBT, observed: “The Treasury signalling it’ll step in at the long end pushed yields and the dollar lower, and gold and silver outperformed equities on the day, so the market priced this as a currency event rather than a growth one. Bitcoin moved with gold and silver rather than with risk appetite, which is what the debasement trade looks like when it’s working.”
Analysts are monitoring whether inflows continue as fiscal policy and regulatory developments unfold and are tracking price moves in bitcoin and ether alongside fund flows.
