Binance France head targeted in two attempted home invasions, three arrested

Binance’s France head David Princay was the apparent target of two attempted home invasions on 12 February 2026 in the Paris region, with three suspects later arrested, according to French broadcaster RTL.

Police reports cited by RTL said three masked men forced their way into a residential building in Val-de-Marne in the early hours while searching for the local Binance executive. Investigators believe the group left after failing to find him, taking two mobile phones during the intrusion.

About two hours later, the same suspects are alleged to have tried again in Vaucresson, also seeking the crypto executive but arriving at the wrong address, RTL reported.

Police traced the stolen phones and reviewed surveillance footage to follow the suspects’ movements. RTL reported the trio boarded a train toward Lyon and were arrested later on 12 February 2026 by the BRI at Lyon Perrache station, then placed in custody.

The incident adds to a series of so-called wrench attacks in France, where assailants use physical force or threats to obtain access to crypto assets. Through 2025, French authorities investigated multiple cases involving kidnappings, ransom attempts and home invasions linked to crypto holders and entrepreneurs. In one case cited in prior coverage, France recorded its 10th crypto-related wrench attack of 2025 after kidnappers targeted a 23-year-old near Paris in June.

The investigation into the attempted attacks on 12 February 2026 is ongoing. Binance did not immediately respond to a request for comment, RTL reported.

As GNcrypto wrote on 8 February 2026, French prosecutors linked a separate kidnapping of a magistrate and her mother to a cryptocurrency ransom demand, with police later arresting five suspects after the victims were found and freed without any payment. The case underscored growing security concerns in France about criminals targeting people connected to crypto businesses or perceived to have crypto-linked wealth.
