ASEAN SHOP Expo 2026: payment tech and retail automation in Kuala Lumpur

ASEAN SHOP Expo will take place September 10-12, 2026 at MITEC Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur, bringing together suppliers and buyers in retail technology. The event focuses on payment infrastructure, vending automation, and AI applications for Southeast Asian markets, with 350 exhibitors expected across six technology categories.
The exhibition reflects growing demand in Southeast Asia for integrated retail infrastructure, as merchants increasingly combine digital payments, automation, and AI-driven systems in physical stores. ASEAN SHOP Expo covers 30,000 square meters and expects approximately 30,000 attendees.
The exhibition includes dedicated zones for payment systems and commercial AI applications. Payment technology exhibitors are expected to present point-of-sale devices, digital payment infrastructure, and transaction processing systems designed for Southeast Asian retail environments.

Vending and automated retail technologies form another key segment of the exhibition. Exhibitors in this segment include manufacturers of self-service vending units, payment integration systems for automated retail, and operational management platforms for distributed vending networks.
Cold chain equipment suppliers are expected to present refrigerated and frozen display systems adapted for tropical climates. Food service technology exhibitors include suppliers of beverages, ready-to-eat products, and preservation packaging adapted for high-temperature logistics.
According to data cited by the event organizers, Malaysia’s retail sector is projected to grow from $89.7 billion in 2024 to $119.6 billion by 2029, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 5.9%.
Store design and visual merchandising suppliers make up a sixth exhibition category. This includes digital signage systems, lighting designed for retail environments, and point-of-purchase display solutions.
Expected attendees include retail chain operators, importers and distributors of retail equipment, grocery and convenience store managers, and government officials involved in retail sector development. A parallel conference track, the ASEAN Retail Leaders Summit, will run during the exhibition.
