The announcement of new payment functionalities on X has catalyzed a surge in interest for meme coins such as Dogecoin (DOGE), Floki (FLOKI), and Shiba Inu (SHIB). This growing enthusiasm is evident in the significant increase in futures open interest for these coins. Despite the heightened trading volumes, there has been little impact on their prices.
Shiba Inu, in partnership with D3, is gearing up to submit an application to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to establish a new top-level domain, ".shib". One of the initial features available for users will be the ability to create their own email addresses.
Shibarium, the Layer 2 blockchain by Shiba Inu's creators, is back in action. After a temporary shutdown due to scalability issues, the team has reopened withdrawals on its bridge to Ethereum. The pause initially locked millions in user funds and caused community unrest.
Now, the mainnet and bridge are fully functional, allowing withdrawals of various assets like SHIB, LEASH, and WETH within 45 minutes to 3 hours. BONE token withdrawals are also back but may take up to 7 days.
LunarCrush, the data analytics company, has reported that the most frequent search on their platform is now the SHIB token, overtaking Optimism (OP) and Worldcoin (WLD) which landed in the second and third spots respectively.
