Meta unveils smart glasses with display and neuro-bracelet

Meta announced Ray-Ban Display smart glasses with a built-in display and neuro-bracelet. The $799 model will go on sale Sept. 30, with sport versions and updated Ray-Bans to follow.
The next generation of Meta’s smart glasses features a screen, camera, and control via a neuro-bracelet that tracks micro hand movements. The device was showcased at the Meta Connect conference in California, where CEO Mark Zuckerberg called it “the next step in human-computer interaction.”

Ray-Ban Display smart glasses come with a high-resolution display, a 12MP built-in camera, support for video calls, and message notifications displayed directly in the lens. Control is handled through a bracelet that detects subtle wrist movements, for example, sending a message with a small hand gesture.
The model will go on sale Sept. 30 for $799. At the same time, Meta updated its non-display glasses line. The new version offers up to 8 hours of battery life. The base model is priced at $379, while the previous generation has been reduced to $299.
The company also introduced a sports version, the Oakley Meta Vanguard, priced at $499. The device is designed for runners and cyclists and automatically tracks performance, syncs with Garmin, and provides audio updates such as heart rate and speed. Sales start Oct. 21.
Meta also added new features such as “conversation focus” to suppress background noise and live translation with support for German and Portuguese.
Analysts note that the glasses occupy a niche between smartphones and VR headsets as they are lightweight, discreet, and suitable for daily use. According to the BBC, Meta has already sold around 2 million devices since the first version launched in 2023.
The launch of Ray-Ban Display and Oakley Vanguard reflects Zuckerberg’s strategy, positioning smart glasses as a key platform for integrating AI and preparing for the “era of superintelligent” devices.
