MetaMask will launch an on-chain rewards program in the coming weeks, distributing more than $30 million in LINEA tokens during its first season.
The wallet provider announced the plan via X, describing a "Season 1" distribution aimed at giving back to its user community. The program will operate as a recurring rewards effort tied to on-chain activity.

MetaMask said the program will include referral rewards, mUSD incentives, partner rewards, and access to tokens. Long-time users will receive special benefits. The company emphasized the initiative is "not a farming play" and described it as "a genuine method of regularly giving back to our community." MetaMask also stated that "long-time MetaMask users will not be ignored."
Eligibility criteria and jurisdictional limitations have not been published yet. The rollout is expected within the next couple of weeks.

LINEA is the native token of Linea, an Ethereum Layer-2 network incubated by Consensys, the company behind MetaMask. MetaMask recently introduced mUSD to its ecosystem. The token does not generate yield, according to issuer materials.

Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin previously said a planned MetaMask token would relate to decentralizing parts of the platform. The LINEA rewards program represents the first season of what MetaMask describes as a structured approach to community incentives.

The $30 million distribution will occur through multiple channels, though specific allocation amounts for each reward category have not been disclosed. The program's design suggests MetaMask is building a framework for ongoing user incentives rather than a one-time distribution event.
