Melania Trump meets tech CEOs on school AI plans

US First Lady Melania Trump hosted tech CEOs, including Zuckerberg, Cook, Nadella, and Altman, at the White House to discuss AI in schools.
At a White House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education meeting on September 4, 2025, First Lady Melania Trump emphasized the importance of AI integration at schools. This was the second AI meeting since Donald Trump signed an Executive Order on Advancing AI Education and established the AI Education Task Force in April 2025.
Our future is no longer science fiction. During this primitive stage, it is our duty to treat AI as we would our own children – empowering, but with watchful guidance, she said.
The Task Force chair, Michael Kratsios, said resources like hardware, infrastructure, interactive lessons, educational toolkits, classroom guides, and other tools are being provided by the program’s contributors to support AI education and student development.
On August 26, Melania Trump launched the Presidential AI Challenge initiative, inviting students and educators to create AI-based solutions. Participants can register online. Students will work on projects using AI to solve community problems, while teachers focus on innovative methods to teach with or apply AI in classrooms.
Several major companies have pledged support for AI education. Microsoft announced a $4 billion investment, including free access to tools like Copilot; OpenAI plans to train 10 million Americans through its AI certification platform; Google committed $1 billion to AI-powered education; and IBM will train 2 million American workers in AI skills over the next three years.
The Presidential AI Challenge aligns with Melania Trump's “Be Best” campaign and her work supporting youth and online safety, including efforts to combat AI-driven deepfakes and non-consensual sexual imagery.
