Immunefi and Ripple are opening the proposed XRP Ledger Lending Protocol to security researchers worldwide through an Attackathon launching October 13. The initiative offers $200,000 in rewards for identifying vulnerabilities before the protocol goes live later this year.
Ahead of a final validator vote later this year, organizers Immunefi and Ripple are publicly testing the security of the XRP Ledger Lending Protocol through their newly launched Attackathon.

The month-long bug bounty offers $200,000 in rewards to security researchers who uncover vulnerabilities. Immunefi, which protects more than $180 billion in on-chain assets, will open the event to its network of over 60,000 researchers.
The initiative marks a key move toward bringing institutional-grade DeFi tools to the XRP Ledger, introducing native pooled lending and underwritten credit. It will let developers and institutions automate lending workflows from issuance to repayment while tapping global liquidity pools.
This initiative not only strengthens XRPL's infrastructure but also reinforces Immunefi's mission to protect the most critical ecosystems in Web3,
said Mitchell Amador, Immunefi's CEO and founder.
Jasmine Cooper, head of product at RippleX, emphasized the importance of thorough testing before launch:
XRPL was designed to support secure, real-world financial applications, and that's especially important as lending is introduced to the network. Partnering with Immunefi allows us to work with some of the top security researchers to help strengthen this new layer of XRPL's DeFi infrastructure.
The competition structure includes two phases. An Attackathon Academy education period begins October 13, training researchers on the protocol's technical architecture. Active bug hunting opens October 27 and runs through November 29.

XRPL launched in 2012 and has maintained over a decade of continuous operation with consistently low fees and fast settlement times. The blockchain is maintained by a global network of independent validators and developers.

Immunefi's track record includes preventing over $25 billion in potential exploits across more than 650 protocols. The platform works with projects including Chainlink, the Ethereum Foundation, Optimism, and Arbitrum.

The organizations will host a live AMA on X Spaces featuring Immunefi security specialists and XRPL Foundation developers during the competition period. Updates on submissions, leaderboard standings, and final results will be published on Immunefi's Attackathon page.

Participants can register and access competition details at immunefi.com starting October 13.
