$30M Stolen in DEXX Hack Affecting Over 8,600 Wallets

posted  29 Nov 2024
The decentralized exchange DEXX was hit by a major hack, with SlowMist security researchers confirming that over 8,620 Solana wallets were compromised, resulting in losses amounting to $30 million. The project addressed the breach via their official X account on November 29, 2024.
The majority of victims faced losses under $10,000, though the breach included one wallet with $1 million in damages, 19 accounts losing up to $500,000, and 178 others affected by losses of up to $100,000.

What was initially reported as a $21 million loss in the DEXX hack has now been updated to $30 million due to token price fluctuations. The breach remains the second-largest in November, following Thala’s $25.5 million loss.

To expedite recovery, DEXX has proposed a deal to the hacker: return the stolen assets, and the exchange will erase all records of the incident, agreeing to drop any legal action.
DEXX has initiated round-the-clock monitoring of the hacker’s wallet activity to freeze the stolen funds if an opportunity arises. Meanwhile, they’ve garnered backing from security teams, partner organizations, and other trading platforms.

The hacker, however, has shown no interest in negotiating with DEXX.
