📣 CZ shared message about exchange fees amid the ongoing X debate
posted 15 Oct 2025

In response to Binance listing fee allegations, founder and ex-CEO CZ said projects can refuse to pay and use alternatives.
He believes strong projects will attract competition among exchanges to list their tokens. CZ’s post comes amid heated debates over centralized exchange policies, sparked by Limitless Labs CEO CJ Hetherington, who criticized Binance’s listing requirements. CJ also said Binance’s policy makes Coinbase more attractive. Binance Customer Support denied the claims, but the debate drew wide attention.
CZ noted that crypto projects follow different business models and can opt for alternatives if they disagree with a platform’s policy. As an example, he mentioned the decentralized exchange PancakeSwap, which doesn’t charge listing fees.
“If you complain about a competitor exchange's listing fees, then by all means, make your own listing fees 0, and be happy,”CZ argued.
In his message, the Binance founder reposted user @YazanXBT, who raised concerns about double standards. @YazanXBT argued that people stressing the advantages of Coinbase often fail to mention that it hasn’t listed BNB, the third-largest cryptocurrency by market cap.
The debate extends beyond centralized exchanges, with decentralized alternatives also drawing wide discussion. Amid the discussion, decentralized exchange Hyperliquid highlighted that their platform doesn’t have listing fees or a listing department. However, the situation is not entirely straightforward. On-chain investigator ZachXBT responded to Hyperliquid’s post, saying its Layer 1 blockchain, HyperCore, “lacks a decent block explorer or analytic tools.”
Competition between DEXs and CEXs has intensified amid the listing debate and growing community scrutiny. In a previous interview with GNcrypto, Alex Kozenko, CMO at WhiteBIT, mentioned the growth of decentralized trading platforms: “If six months ago various token launchpads like Pump Fun were making waves, now DEXs have taken their place. You can add prediction markets like Polymarket to this category,” Kozenko noted.
