Aave and Uniswap lead alliance to inform U.S. crypto policy

Aave Labs, Uniswap Foundation and other Ethereum DeFi groups launched the Ethereum Protocol Advocacy Alliance to coordinate outreach to U.S. lawmakers and offer technical input on onchain policy.
Participants include Aave Labs, Aragon, Curve, Lido Labs Foundation, Spark Foundation, The Graph Foundation and the Uniswap Foundation. The alliance aims to add decentralized protocol perspectives to policy discussions that have often been shaped by centralized crypto companies.
"Together, we secure over $100 billion in assets through open, non-custodial protocols that operate without intermediaries," the EPAA wrote in an announcement. "Drawing on our pragmatic and technical experience, we will advocate for onchain solutions to regulatory challenges."

To engage policymakers, the EPAA plans to share technical expertise, publish plain-language materials that explain protocol mechanics, coordinate outreach to widen its audience, and map areas of shared technical interest across the industry.
The launch follows a surge in crypto political spending in the latest U.S. election cycle. Fairshake, a political action committee supported by a16z, Coinbase and Ripple, raised about $260 million and spent $195.8 million, according to public filings. EPAA participants intend to add technical context to debates that have increasingly involved centralized firms.
The alliance forms amid broader efforts to organize Ethereum-focused communication. Earlier in November, the Ethereum Foundation shifted its grants program to a more selective process. In late October, it introduced institutions.ethereum.org to guide traditional organizations interested in using the network.
